Ofori-Atta Sues Two National Security Operatives Over Alleged Home Raid

Ex finance minister, Ofori-Atta
Former finance minister Kenneth Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta has filed a lawsuit against two senior police officers, DSP Bismark Boakye Ansah and Chief Inspector Mensah (also known as Sir Mensah), alleging invasion and violation of his right to privacy.

This case follows an incident that occurred on February 11, 2025, in which persons, including persons in military and police uniforms, allegedly raided Ofori-Atta’s Cantonments apartment in Accra. Ofori-Atta was not present at the time; however, his family members and wife were present.
Eyewitnesses and security footage reveal that about 12 people took part in the operation, 5 in military gear, one in a police uniform, and the rest in casual clothes.
As of now, the aim of the raid is unknown, and it is yet to be revealed whether any items were confiscated.
The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) was initially suspected to be a part of this raid.
However, Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng denied any involvement, claiming that the OSP neither authorized nor carried out the raid.
In response to the incident, Ofori-Atta filed a writ on March 12, 2025, requesting multiple judicial remedies:
- A statement that the defendant’s activities were unlawful.
- Compensation for trespass and invasion of privacy.
- A perpetual injunction prohibiting further interference with his property.
- Aggravated damages and legal fees covered
The defendants have been asked to answer the writ within eight days of receiving it.
