NPP Left a strong and robust Economy – Dr. Stephen Amoah

Dr. Stephen Amoah, a former Deputy Finance Minister and current Member of Parliament for Nhyiaeso, has defended the economic records and management of the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo administration. He stated that the NPP left behind a restored and fundamentally correct economy for the John Dramani Mahama-led administration.
Speaking ahead of the 2025 budget presentation by the finance minister, Dr. Stephen Amoah emphasised that the NPP government did not leave a comatose economy for the current government to manage, as claimed by the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The Member of Parliament for Nhyiaeso referred to the 5.7% GDP growth recorded in 2024, which surpassed the budget target of 3.1% revised to 4%.
Additionally, Amoah highlighted that the public debt to GDP ratio dropped significantly from 80.4% in 2020 to 61.8% in 2024.
“I believe Cassiel Ato Forson is going to present a budget of continuity because what we left for them at the end of 2024 is positive and he will come and present them. The Ghana Statistical Service figures say that our GDP for 2024 grew by 5.7 percent, which is far higher than in 2016.

“Our economic figures have started doing well and so we expect them to accept the fact that we did not leave them a comatose economy for them to manage as President John Dramani is claiming. They should be truthful to Ghanaians and laud the NPP government and continue our good works that we did,” Dr. Stephen Amoah said.
