Eastern Corridor Road remains a priority for the government
The nominee for the deputy minister for Roads and Highways Alhassan Suhuyini, has asserted that the government will not desolate the Eastern Corridor Road, hence it remains a priority the the incumbent government.
Hon. Suhuyini made this statement before the vetting committee in Parliament during his vetting on Wednesday February 26, 2025, He stated that, The Eastern Corridor Road is a priority to the John Mahama government and it will be tackled and completed in the shortest possible time.

The deputy minister designate said, “I have the assurances of my minister and by extension, the government that the Eastern Corridor Road remains a priority road for this government and will be tackled with all the seriousness it deserves for it to be completed within the shortest possible time.”
The Eastern Corridor route which is a major national base project serves as an important link between the Northern and Southern parts of the country.
This route stretches from Tema which is in the Greater Accra Region through the Volta, Oti, Northern, and Upper East regions. The road is also a pivotal trade route which alleviates economic activities such as agriculture, commerce, and transportation.
In the meantime, part of the road such as the Jasikan-Dodo Pepesu road was under construction and have been completed.
Furthermore, the Eastern Corridor Road serves as a means of transport for traders and commuters who transport commodities like plantain, cassava and yam and other Agric produce from the North to other parts of the country.
Aside Agriculture produce, the route also helps in commuting goods and services between Ghana and other countries like Burkina Faso, Togo and Niger.
