Abronye DC Summoned by NIB over ¢500M allegations against President Mahama

Kwame Baffour Abronye DC
The Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffour Abronye DC has been invited by the National Investigation Bureau (NIB) to answer to allegations he leveled against President John Dramani Mahama on the morning show of Movement TV and Wontumi Radio.
In a video that has been widely circulated on social media, Abronye was captured alleging that President Mahama is hoarding an amount of five hundred and fifty million Ghana cedis intended for the dismissed appointees at the Jubilee House.
Abronye is expected to meet with the National Investigation Bureau on Wednesday, 26th February 2025 at 1000 hours at Kawukudu to assist in the investigation of these allegations leveled against President Mahama.

This development will set a precedent for individuals and reinforce the idea that making such bold statements without any proof of claim can be detrimental. It also brings to attention the extent to which freedom of speech has been abused in the country, especially within the media. We have witnessed on multiple occasions people get online and make defamatory claims without any evidence to back their claims and somehow get away with this act.
By issuing this invite, the NIB is emphasizing the principle that freedom of speech carries the responsibility of truthfulness. This not only helps to curb the spread of misinformation but also honors the integrity of our democratic institutions.
